Forum Instructions

Forum notice

Dylan has done a great job in setting up our NBCC forum system.  This will be different from the Yahoo! system we are currently using.  In the Yahoo! system all members of the Yahoo! group receive all messages.  In the new forum system, only members who have joined the forum will get the messages.  It offers a lot more security.  And the message is not the actual message – it is only a notification message that someone has posted a message on the forum.

Here is how it works:

1.    Go to:  http://nashbcc.org/forums and click on ‘Register’ in the upper right hand corner of the page.  You will be asked to input some information:  user name (give yourself one), email address (the one you gave us when you joined the club), a password(again – give yourself one) and then name and address.  Then the authentication code (the usual scrambled letters in a box).  Then hit submit.

2.    Dylan will verify that your email address matches what we have on file and you will be sent a verification email to the address.

3.    Once you are in the forum, click on the words: ‘Board Index’, or wait a few seconds and you will be redirected to the main page.

4.    Once there, you will see a list of forums.  Pick the one that best suits your topic and click on it to enter that forum.

5.    Once there, you will see a button labeled ‘Newtopic’.  Click on that and you will be sent to the message board where you can post your message. When entering a message, make sure you take 15 seconds to do so, then click on submit to post your message.  If you do not take 15 seconds, you will get an error message.  If you get the error message, coumt to 15 and click submit again. (This appears to be a bug).

6.    Your message title will show up on a list on the forum page you selected.

7.    To reply to a message, click on the message title and you will be directed to the message where there is a button labeled ‘Postreply’.

8.    Click on that and you will be directed to the message board.  Enter your reply as in Step 5.

9.    To be notified of new messages to a forum, you must subscribe to the forum – this is done by clicking on the words ‘Subscribe forum’ in the lower left hand corner area of the forum page.  You will then be notified of new posts to the forum.

10. If you want to follow a particular topic within a forum, you must subscribe to the topic as you did to the forum itself.  Once you pull up a message, this is done by clicking on the words ‘Subscribe topic’ in the lower left hand corner area of the message page.  You will then be notified of new posts to the topic

11. If you do not subscribe to a forum or topic you will not see any notifications of new postings to the forum or topic.

12.When someone enters a message the notification email will look similar to this:
